Vivoree Esclito impersonated Sarah Geronimo on Saturday, February 20.
It is during the telecast of the new season of Your Face Sounds Familiar.
For the first week’s challenge, Vivoree sang and danced to Sarah’s biggest hit “Tala.”
For her to impress judges Gary Valenciano, Ogie Alcasid, and Sharon Cuneta.
During her performance training, Esclito was reminded by coach Nyoy Volante of Geronimo’s “intensity” during her numbers.
Her snappy movements matched with emotion appropriate to the song’s lyrics.
Sharon Cuneta said that she sensed Vivoree’s nervousness but since it was only the first episode, the young actress would be able to handle it later on.
Gary Valenciano said that the performance as “multiple challenges” for her.
“You really have to sing, kailangan marunong ka din gumalaw (you also need to know how to move). You’re biggest asset is your ability to act. So I am looking forward to all your other performances from this day,” he said.
Vocal coach Jed Madela, meanwhile, gave Esclito tips on Geronimo’s vocal stylings, such as her “hikbi,” or sharp breathing in some performances.
Ogie Alcasid, meanwhile, said that Vivoree now knows what to work on with the feedback given to her.
First released in 2015, “Tala” was the lead single of Sarah’s album The Great Unknown. The song became popular again after the choreography of the music video became a dance challenge online.
For her actual performance, Esclito also got the opportunity to use the costume Sarah wore during the Grand Tala Day in 2020.
Vivoree along with the iDolls, Klarisse de Guzman, and Jhong Hilario were the first batch of performers. The second batch will do their impersonations on Sunday, February 21.
